STEP 1.
Read the assignment carefully.
Plan and make notes.
Think about the language (use new structures and vocabulary).
Write (double space, margins, handwriting).
Check (spelling, grammar, vocabulary, paragraph building).
STEP 2. Hand it in on the due date. Deadline.
STEP 3. In red, the teacher will correct your composition through the code (SP, GR, WO, WW, ns, P).
STEP 4. In blue or black (depending on what you’ve used first), make the necessary corrections to make the text better. Do not rewrite the whole text, just include your corrections between lines. Give the text back to the teacher on the due date.
STEP 5. In green, the teacher will check your corrections and write down your mark on her notebook.

The following aspects will be evaluated separately on a scale of 0 to 10 points.
b.1 Grammar (25 % of the composition grade)
Two different aspects will be contemplated under this heading:
• the correct and appropriate use of morphological and syntactic structures
• the range (variety and complexity) of structures used.
b.2 Vocabulary (25 % of the composition grade)
Two main aspects will be considered:
• the range and appropriate use of vocabulary (variety of semantic fields, richness, phrasal verbs, collocations, idiomatic expressions, linking words...).
• the correct spelling of words.
b.3 Text / Paragraph building (25 % of the composition grade)
Two main aspects will be examined:
• The clarity of organization of ideas within the sentence, the paragraph and the text.
• The clear and correct use of punctuation and text markers.
b.4 Maturity (25 % of the composition grade)
Aspects contemplated in this category:
The skillful handling of the topic (clear thinking, good outline, well-reasoned ideas, creativity ...)

Writing an essay is not a spontaneous process. It is important to revise the text and improve it before you hand it in to the teacher.
You can use the following checklist to revise your essay:

1- Is there an explicit subject in each sentence?
2- Is there a verb in each sentence?
3- Do all verbs agree in number with their subjects?
(You is very pretty.)
4- Are all pronoun references correct?
(Gisela was very thoughtful, he brought some candles)
5- Is the word order correct?
(Subject + verb ... -word order in English is not as flexible as in Catalan or Spanish)
6- Is the proper verb tense used and formed correctly?
7- Check for correct possessive adjective
(She.... his husband...)
8- Check for correct form and position of adjectives.
(...expensives shoes...)
9- Have you organised the information logically into different paragraphs?
